MLB teams are preparing for a big weekend. There are a number of teams in key battles for position in the standings as the playoffs approach. Here’s a look at the teams that offer value as the season creeps to its conclusion.

Atlanta Braves (-182) vs. Philadelphia Phillies

The Braves are only a .5-game behind the Mets for first place in the NL East and won’t want to waste any starts from Max Fried for the rest of the season. Fried, who is 13-6 with a 2.50 ERA, has picked up two no-decisions in starts against the Phillies this year. During his last outing against Philadelphia, Friend struck out eight but allowed three runs over six innings of work in a game the Braves lost 6-4.

Philadelphia has positioned itself comfortably in the NL Wild Card race and should have no issue getting across the finish line by earning a playoff berth. The Phillies have a potent offense. Philadelphia ranks in the top 10 in runs per game, home runs, batting average, and OPS.

The Braves have been solid away from home, compiling a 41-30 record. Atlanta will find a way to get Fried his first win over Philadelphia this season.

Milwaukee Brewers (+105) vs. New York Yankees

The Brewers have stagnated over the past month in the race for a National League Wild Card. It seems Milwaukee hasn’t been able to move any closer than within two games of the San Diego Padres for the third playoff spot. Entering a season against the AL East’s top team will provide the Brewers with a playoff-like scenario. New York will start Frankie Montas, who has hit some rough patches recently.

Montas has allowed four or more earned runs in three of his past seven starts. This season, Montas has a 5-12 record with a 3.89 ERA. Milwaukee will counter with Adrian Houser. Houser has strung together three straight strong starts allowing one or no earned runs. Milwaukee will win this one at home to get a jolt in the playoff race.

Chicago White Sox (-148) vs. Detroit Tigers

The White Sox are playing good baseball. While it may be too little, too late to get Chicago into the American League playoffs, the White Sox enter a series with the lowly Tigers, having won seven of their past ten games. Chicago will throw Lucas Giolito, who has been effective at getting swing-and-misses from opposing batters.

Giolito is tied for 28th in the league with 153 strikeouts in 139 innings pitched. In Giolito’s last three stars, he has thrown five or more strikeouts in each game. Detroit will send Matt Manning to the mound.

Manning is 2-2 with a 3.73 ERA in 50.2 innings pitched. Detroit is just playing out the string. The Tigers, who are already eliminated from playoff contention, have lost four straight games.

Detroit has especially struggled at the plate. The Tigers are 30th in the league, scoring an average of 3.29 runs per game. Detroit has also hit 90 home runs this season, which ranks 30th.

The White Sox will open the series with a win to keep the pressure on the Cleveland Guardians for the AL Central crown.

How Money Line Works?

Moneyline betting is by far the easiest way to place a sports wager. There are no point spreads to parse, no garbage-time free throws to ruin your betting day, and no last-minute meaningless touchdowns to take you from a winner to a loser.

How to Bet Odds

When we, as sports fans, learned our multiplication tables, we aced the number 7. Seven, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42 were easy because we all watched football on the weekends. Multiplication by sevens, then add a three, a six after a missed PAT.

How to Bet on NFL Games

Baseball is America’s pastime, but football is America’s crazed passion, with its weekly schedule of games, millions of television viewers across the country and the world, and the billion-dollar stadiums that serve as Sunday cathedrals in 32 American cities.

What is the Spread?

If you are a golfer or have ever played on a bowling team, think of a point spread like a handicap. It is a way for two teams of differing abilities to play each other on equal footing.  The better team, and the favorite in the game, gives a certain amount …
