Over/Under Betting

What is Over/Under betting in football?

Over/under betting, also called Total Bets, in the NFL involves predicting whether the total combined score of a game will be higher (over) or lower (under) than a predetermined number set by oddsmakers.

Over/Under (Totals)

Total Points Guess

You’re guessing if both teams will score more or fewer points than a certain number set by the sportsbook.

Total Points Example

If the over/under is 45.5 points and you bet “over,” both teams need to score 46 points or more for you to win.

Scenario:

In a matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles, the over/under is set at 45.5 points.

If you bet the “over” on the total points, and the final score is Cowboys 28, Eagles 21, the combined score is 49 points, which is above the 45.5-point benchmark.

Therefore, your bet wins. If you bet the “under,” and the final score is Cowboys 24, Eagles 17, the combined score is 41 points, which is under 45.5 points, so your bet is successful.
